More than 10 percent FDI capital poured into tourism

VietNamNet Bridge - So far, $10.8 billion has been injected in hotel construction and tourism business by foreign-invested businesses, accounting for more than 10 percent of the total registered FDI capital in Vietnam.
This was said by Mr. Phan Huu Thang, Director of the Foreign Investment Department under the Ministry of Planning and Investment at a two-day seminar on tourism investment opportunities opening last week in HCM City.
In the first quarter of 2008, 8 foreign projects poured total registered capital of 1,621 million USD into tourism in Vietnam, mainly in central coastal tourism centers.
FDI businesses invested nearly 12.8 billion USD in building offices, luxury apartments and more than 4.4 billion USD in constructing new urban areas.
Vietnam greeted nearly 1.28 million foreign tourists in the first quarter of 2008, marking an on year increase of 15.7 percent.
