VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam has sent a dispatch to NewOpenWorld asking the organisers to put Ha Long Bay back in the world natural wonder poll, said a senior official of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).

The official, Vice Head of VNAT’s Tourism Promotion Agency Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, also called for individuals and organisations supporting Ha Long Bay to strictly obey NewOpenWorld’s rules.
Acting Head of VNAT, Nguyen Quoc Ky, stated that though NewOpenWorld is not a United Nations (UN) representative, it is a reputed organisation in the world, not an entirely commercial one as some newspapers have reported.
Ky also said that NewOpenWorld’s standards for the seven world natural wonders are very dynamic, and that this is a new way of looking at the subject.

“Vietnam will use every tool and information channel to advertise its image to the world through Ha Long Bay as its symbol,” Ky declared.
